Among the seemingly endless variety of topics, there are thousands that may or may not be of interest to you, but nevertheless are still able garner mass appeal and therefore, massive influence. As they say, there is power in numbers; or more appropriately, "followers" and "likes".
Don't believe me? Head down to your nearest Starbucks or locally sourced-organic-gluten and conflict free-bistro and take a look. Chances are you'll find at least one person blogging about:
- A blog which takes pictures of other people taking pictures of their meals. Who are presumably doing so for their own food-related blog.
Although the amount of influence they actually have is subject to debate, they are nevertheless apart of meteoric rise of this medium.
I digress.
Inevitably, with the growing influence writers have on the public, financial gain soon followed. A transition from humbled beginnings to corporate marketing platforms had begun. Steering the writing in such a way as to please the consumer rather than an adoring reader.
But who can blame them? Even Wu-Tang warned us before the internet was a thing...Cash Rules Everything Around Me, right?
Maybe I have an issue not with why blogs made it the big time, but how. Is it just me or is the trend these days is to simply take a contrarian view on a subject, and then shout it from the highest proverbial rooftop? After all, if you are a sheep among the flock you'll blend right in. You have to be the wolf to bring home tobacon mutton.

So much of what I've been reading lately is laced in political undertone, blatant promotion of a product, or a diatribe from some begrudged soul against "the man". Not everything we read should have to be taken with a grain of salt. Fact checked and scrutinized. Filtered of hubris and self-aggrandizement.
Arguments have their time and place but I feel is was high time for a reader to find some calm among the storm; where they can read, simply for the sake of reading. Not having to question the motive or opinion of the writer.
Whether it be a fictional short story, a nostalgic memory to share, or a unique observation, this blog is a collection of articles that aim to, if for no other reason, provide a moment of refreshment stemming from the opinion of, well, none.
